A total of 80 students from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Spain will be the first to improve their professional skills thanks to training, which will be open after the completion of the project platform.

The European BlueDivet project (Blue economy digitalization skills for VET students 2021-1-ES01-KA220-VET-000034899), coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, will improve the professional skills of 80 VET students from four European countries, through an online course on blue economics and digitalization. This is pilot training that will be available in the open to all stakeholders, once the investigation is completed next July.
These are some of the conclusions of the project coordination meeting, held this week in Greece, in particular at the IEK Delta Vocational Training Centre. It was attended by the researcher Francisco López Castejón, coordinator of the BlueDivet project and representative of partnering organizations.
In particular, 20 students will carry out training in each of the four participating countries of this project funded by the Erasmus programme, i.e. Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Spain. All of them are enrolled from the educational centers that are part of the consortium: CIFP Hespérides and CIFP Polytechnic; Andalusia Emprende Fundación Pública; Omospondia Ergodoton and Viomichanonkyprou (Cyprus); Aintek Symvouloi Epicheiriseon Efarmoges Ypsilis Technologias Ekpaidefsi Anonymi Etaireia (Greece); the Varna Economic Development Agency (Bulgaria) and IEK Delta (Greece).
The training, which has been developed after collecting information from more than 40 companies and 25 vocational training centres in Europe, will help stakeholders to learn how to adapt the skills learned during their education to an environment such as the ocean, the special requirements of companies in the sector and what is the sustainable blue growth initiative, among other issues.
The online course will be officially presented in June in Cartagena, at an event where the main results of this project funded with 268,632.00 by the European Union will also be announced.

In addition to this online course, the project will offer advice and mentoring for students who wish to undertake in the blue economy sector. This accompaniment will be carried out through a collaborative platform in which networking will be promoted among students, academic professionals, and other industry actors, who want to act as mentors in projects promoted by students who have carried out online training. The collaborative tool will be available in the coming months.
